Mud Pump Spares Crosshead Overview
The crosshead is a critical system that converts the crankshaft's rotary motion into linear reciprocating motion through the connecting rod. This reciprocating motion is then transferred to the piston via the extension rod, enabling efficient mud pump operation.
In large reciprocating engines, the crosshead mechanism eliminates sideways pressure on the piston. Our company manufactures crossheads using high-quality wear-resistant materials and specialized techniques, resulting in minimal deformation, superior precision, and tight tolerances.
As a vital component in the mud pump's power end, the crosshead slides within upper and lower guide plates while driving the intermediate draw bar to transmit force to the hydraulic end. One end securely fixes the intermediate draw bar, while the cavity connects to the connecting rod's small end via the crosshead pin.
Crosshead Material Specifications
Our crossheads are manufactured from high-strength nodular cast iron with tensile strength exceeding 600MPa, ensuring exceptional durability and abrasion resistance for demanding oil drilling applications.
The primary distinction between metric and British system crossheads lies in the screw hole configuration. To ensure optimal performance, the contact area between the crosshead bore-hole and the conical surface of the crosshead pin must exceed 75% for secure connection.
